The Norwegian Ambassador to South Sudan, Roar Haugsdal, and the Secretary General of Caritas visited Malakal last to assess humanitarian operations supporting displaced communities in Upper Nile State.

Thousands of families in Malakal and surrounding areas continue to live with the aftermath of conflict and displacement, facing urgent needs for shelter, food, healthcare, and protection.

During the visit, officials witnessed the work of Caritas and other humanitarian partners delivering essential services despite significant operational challenges.

The delegation highlighted both the scale of the crisis and the need for sustained support to ensure vulnerable populations receive life-saving aid.

Humanitarian agencies in Upper Nile have called for continued funding and international support to maintain and expand assistance to displaced communities who remain in precarious conditions.

Officials expressed gratitude for the dedication of humanitarian workers, noting the importance of coordinated efforts to meet the ongoing needs of South Sudan’s displaced population.
